Infant/Toddler Program
Infants (4–18 months) & Toddlers (18–36 months)
A calm, nurturing beginning to lifelong learning
At Little Explorers Montessori, our Infant and Toddler Program is thoughtfully designed to support your child’s earliest stages of development. Within a peaceful, carefully prepared environment, children are given the freedom to explore, build concentration, and develop independence at their own pace.
A Calm & Focused Environment
Our Infant and Toddler classrooms are intentionally designed to be peaceful, orderly, and free from unnecessary distractions. This calm atmosphere supports the development of concentration, self-regulation, and a sense of security, laying the foundation for learning now and in the years ahead.
A Caring Community
Children learn best in relationship with others. In our mixed-age environment, students grow together in a close-knit, caring community. Through shared work, daily routines, and gentle social experiences, children develop empathy, cooperation, and respect for one another.
“Help Me Do It Myself”
Children are born with a natural drive toward independence. Our environment is carefully prepared so everything is within reach and sized for small hands. Child-sized tools allow children to prepare snacks, care for their space, and participate meaningfully in daily life. Through these experiences, children build practical skills, confidence, and a deep belief in their own capabilities.
A Beautiful, Child-Sized Environment
Our bright and inviting classrooms are designed specifically for children ages 18 to 36 months. This carefully prepared space allows children to paint, explore music, care for plants, participate in food preparation, and engage with materials that strengthen fine and gross motor coordination, all at their own pace.
Language During the Absorbent Mind
The first years of life are a unique and powerful period for language development. We surround children with rich, thoughtful conversation and precise vocabulary throughout the day. Through meaningful interactions and repetition, children naturally absorb language, planting the seeds for future reading, writing, and self-expression.
A Joyful Experience
Dr. Maria Montessori believed that the happiness of the child is a true measure of the success of an educational environment. In our Infant and Toddler classrooms, children are engaged, content, and deeply connected to their teachers and peers, developing a positive relationship with school and a lifelong love of learning.
Our Menu & Mealtime Experience
Mealtime is an important part of our Montessori day. Children participate in food preparation, table setting, and shared meals, fostering independence and community. We value fresh, thoughtfully sourced ingredients and view the table as a place for nourishment, connection, and learning.
Ready to Move Up
Between the ages of approximately 2½ and 3, children often show growing confidence, expanding language skills, and curiosity about the world beyond the Toddler classroom. When a child demonstrates readiness, they transition naturally into our Early Childhood program (ages 3–6), continuing their Montessori journey in a familiar and supportive environment.
